XL Flooring is a family owned, fast paced, progressive importer / distributor of flooring products.

About The Position
Reporting to the Marketing Manager—and working alongside the existing Samples Coordinator—we are recruiting for this part-time Products Assistant position.

Do you have some practical or educational background in warehousing, shipping and / or possibly logistics?
Do you take pride in servicing people with their needs?
Can you see yourself overseeing a small, yet growing, samples department?
If your answer to all 3 questions is yes, this position is suited for you.

You will be responsible for maintaining inventory at various Canadian and American warehouse locations, organizing shipping, and monitoring shipping costs and rates with various carriers.
Further, you will support the order desk staff by solving various dealer and customer requests, where daily tasks are to be completed efficiently and effectively while maintaining open, level-headed communications with customers, suppliers, sales representatives and staff.

Key Responsibilities
– Ensure smooth and timely process delivery of flooring samples.
– Maintain accurate and timely data entry into the samples operating system.
– Tracks and traces shipments as required.
– Implement proper inventory and distribution planning.
– Closely monitor inventory at multiple warehouse sites, and perform efficient transfers between  warehouses and companies.
– Prepare work orders, and paperwork for pickup / delivery at warehouse locations.
– Facilitate the resolution of stocking and shipping issues.
– Produce preliminary inventory reconciliation reports for analysis.
– Communicating effectively with customers, suppliers, sales representatives and staff.
– Providing sales-staff support with shipping samples to dealers and clients.
– Understand department process flow, and constantly looking to improve efficiency.
– Various other tasks as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience
– Highly detailed, focused, and with a strong ability to organize, multi-task plus manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
– Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results.
– Excellent keyboarding and computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word.
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
– Decision-making and problem solving skills.
– Proactive and eager to learn.
– Must be able to lift 50lbs.
– A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an office environment is great while experience in a logistics, shipping, and / or warehouse environment will be an asset.
– Positive and professional team attitude.
– Punctual, reliable and able to work independently.
– Prepared to make a long-term commitment to the companies.
