Regional Architect & Designer Sales Rep – Flooring Distribution

Job Summary:
This is not only a sales position but a creative role for someone skilled at developing and maintaining loyal relationships. The regional architect & design representative works to generate, track, defend and ultimately channel specifications through our extensive dealer network to secure a successful sale for single, multi-family, property management and corporate end-use applications. The specification process is accomplished through education to positively influence architects, designers, general contractors, developers and owners. The objective is to achieve maximum exposure to ensure that our products are recommended and specified for project work throughout B.C. and other areas of Canada where applicable.
Core Functions: Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with current and prospective customers.
- Demonstrates products and sales techniques to existing & potential customers to familiarize them with our product features and benefits.
- Promotes and secures orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
- Provides customers with current products, samples, and training.
- Analyzes market potential and determines the value of existing and prospective customers.
- Creates and manages customer information and notes in QuickBooks accounting system.
- Schedules, plans, and organizes sales trips to maximize cost and time investment.
- Identifies competitors and keeps log of their new products, prices, and how their products compare to ours.
- Participates and provides input in home shows, trade shows and conventions.
- Provides management with various reports including projected sales, weekly sales reports and results of trips.
- Be a technical expert in loose laid luxury vinyl flooring.
- Supplies and maintains product libraries, delivering larger format samples when requested.
- Provides technical, environmental, installation and assorted documentation as requested.
- Recommends changes in products and services by gathering client and industry feedback.
- Facilitates and manages custom color development.
- Is familiar with construction design elements.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending conferences, trade shows and workshops, reviewing trade publications and participating in professional societies.
- Maintains a contact and project database.
- Responds to general technical inquiries from all requestors.
- Maintain membership in professional networking groups pertinent to the flooring and building industry.
Qualifications:
- A positive, enthusiastic, energetic, professional and personable individual.
- Must have previous experience in flooring or related sector.
- Must have a post-secondary degree in a relevant field.
- Must demonstrate an aptitude for problem-solving; be results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to follow prescribed procedures.
- Should be proficient in using Microsoft Office (specifically Outlook and Excel) and be familiar with QuickBooks or contact management software.
- Must be a self starter who is organized and motivated to achieve set goals.
- Must be willing to travel primarily within the Lower Mainland and occasionally to Vancouver Island and the Central Okanagan.
- Able to make sound business decisions to close a sale.
- Able to present confidently to large groups.
- Thorough understanding of industry norms: LEED, Green Building, FloorScore, ASTM, IIC and others.
Compensation:
Market competitive compensation package including company car, group benefits, expenses, base salary and commission structure.
